Symbol of Symbols

If I were to give you all my love
you will never be satisfied
as that is not what you are looking for
though you thought you have finally found.

If I were to give you all the freedom
you will never be fulfilled
as that is not what you are looking for
though you thought you have finally got.

If I were to give you wisdom
you too will never be complete
as that is not what you are looking for
though you thought you have finally arrived.

Nothing that I give can you be fulfilled
as you can never receive whatever I give
except knowledge, and even that, is just another idea
until this truth is seen
your heart will still be yearning, for me.

Wake up dear
and let what I gave be your guiding light
and let symbol become your understanding
and let understanding become your realization
and hence wisdom comes to be.

Only then will you know
what I gave has finally reached you
what I gave has finally made you
and what I gave has finally set you free.

Only then will the lover
see the beloved
which before was merely a shadow
a mirage of an unknown voice.
