We are taught to reciprocate
We are taught to return
Hence begin the errors
We are taught to return thanks
A gesture of polite
And so the mind learns
When thanks not given to us
We see wrongness
And so our gift of upset
We are taught to return sorry
A gesture of amend
And so the mind learns
When sorry not offered to us
We see unforgiving
And so our gift of anger
We are taught to return giving
A gesture of goodwill
And so the mind learns
When giving not returned to us
We see stinginess
And so our gift of illwill
If reciprocate our mindset
How can we live Now
How can we live New
Plague by past “to-return”
With guilt in our memories
With awaiting judgments our mind
Do we not see what arrived
Our conditioned entitlement?
Not because of he
Not because of she
But meeting of conditionings
Arise what needs to happen?
If this properly seen
Any arising no longer
Be returned a memory
No longer be reciprocated
Be it pain or joy
Except with gracious thanks
That what is given, pain or joy
Is now All over
Only Now can then be lived, now
Only New can now be perceived
Only then Eternity be realized
Only then the Generous Heart
Can be savored constantly
Will then reciprocation, a necessity?
Will then guilt, a mind dis-ease?
Ney! Ney!
For the Generous Heart
Is the birthplace of Love
Who else need our return
Who else do we need return
When the Generous Heart
Already emanating Love
Is a natural balm of return
Without any “thought” of return
Only then the world is save
Only then the world is safe
Otherwise “return” a disease
Perpetuating mankind
Separating humanity
Distancing God.
