Where Beyond the Ego is Possible

As you close your eyes and try to know yourself, not through thinking or seeking further than what is already here, you will sense a presence of “you” – the one that you are very familiar with. That “one” can only be known by you and felt by you. That “you” is actually a mental construct of ideas – a false self that exists fed by ideas. So long as ideas exist, you can be sure “you” have to be around. In fact, existence can only continues because of ideas.

If you visualize yourself as a form, you can be sure that form in your mind are kept intact by ideas. Just as cells keeps the body intact, ideas keep identity continuing. Ideas or views are fundamentally egoistic as it helps to reaffirm the existence of identity, making the self more real to each moment. Ideas are multidimensional in operation as it is not simply one or two ideas to each moment, rather a complexity of uncountable conditionings of ideas that brings about the realness of who we think we are.

Take for example “table”. The letters t-a-b-l-e is a concept, an idea that has a sound with it. Even each alphabet, “t”, “a”, “b”, “l”, “e” is a concept of its own, having its unique pronunciation sound. Then comes the meaning of table – to mean a shape that is useful for eating, writing, etc. Can you imagine in just a word alone, multiple levels of ideas are existing within it. What about when the word “table” is being put into a sentence. It is impossible to imagine the massiveness of ideas that construct the entire meaning of that sentence. Thus when we think of something, though only for a second or two, that momentary thought has unknown supportive ideas behind it.

Consider the number of years we have lived, the number of months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds – you can now understand how the present idea of who “you” are came to be. There is no permanent entity within it except a continuum of ideas and views. They are seamless and unbroken streams of consciousness perpetuating every moment and thus there is this sense that “you” are permanent, yet it is merely an illusion created by conditioning held fast together by grasping or clinging. Just as the beads in a rosary are held together by a string, clinging holds ideas together and create an illusion of identity making the “you” very real and solid. Behind it all, they are merely a facade of emptiness, devoid of meaning and identity. Yet that emptiness is not empty per se as it is neither a space or not a space – both are merely concepts born from ideas – thus each meaning given to it has not at all transcend what could be possibly beyond the understanding of consciousness. In the same manner, what is beyond the mind or consciousness is neither form nor formless, as both are also conceptual construct of the mind that experiences it.

It is not farfetched to say mind is the ego itself. Yet it is also not entirely true, for to realize the potential of what is beyond the mind, an extra ingredient that must be beyond ego must first arise within the mind so as to enable the initiating of that path. That extra ingredient when manifesting itself in the mind will come in a form of information and from there a new view is created. It is no doubt another view, another idea, yet that bit of information is unique in the sense that it has the capacity of undoing the construction of ego, slowly but surely breaking down the self-cherished meaning of identity.  It has the effect of nullifying the existence of ego in a gradual way, only when this beginning information is supported by your own wisdom, having the gut feeling that this is the way out of these dreams of ideas.

Meaning at its End

moments can be simply simple
if there are no meanings attached to it
for then what is is just as it is
devoid of
meanings of if or should
or even must.

yet that cannot be the case
as meanings make up my entire mind
make up my reality
make up my experiences
make up who I am
without which
experiences forever cease
not to mention the death of identity

and that comes back to truth
that so long I-identity is still felt
I can be sure it is a construct of meanings
of ancient ideas and views
mutated over unimaginable times
solidifying the falseness
of a meaning that
I do exist

“I” is the mother of delusion
giving further many more I to come
seamlessly to each moment
making what is but a process
now a permanent meaning
unrealized I am but simply
meanings over meanings

thus see meanings as meaningless
yet that is another meaning
watch meaning without giving it a meaning
exactly as it is
noticing, awake
fully awake
to its nature
and before you realize
you are out of meanings!

Seeking But Never Finding

What you’re seeking for is stopping you from getting it. When you seek for happiness, it is the seeking that is stopping you from being happy. On the same note, when you seek to resist, it is your seeking that is stopping you from be free. All forms of seeking is missing the mark as it is not elsewhere that Peace or Freedom is found but here in the now. Peace can never be elsewhere since Peace is a result, not a cause. Hence to meet Peace elsewhere you must first develop the cause for Peace to arise now and that cause or causes has to be related to Peace – how could the effect be Peace when the cause is not related to Peace?

Hence when we look elsewhere other than what is here in the now, we are constantly pursuing something that is unreal, ungraspable, unachievable. Similarly, when we wish to create a future, we have to start creating in the now consciously for the future to take place – only if you wish to experience what the future will be like. Imagining the future without looking at what ideas that is running the present moment is only creating exactly what the present mind is. Thus when one seeks the future what one is doing is actually putting the present into the future. Thus when one is resisting, the future has to be resistance. If one is seeking happiness, the future will still be in seeking mode – for each cause has its own unique effect, resonating with each other and on one another.

When we hope for the future without caring about the now, we are just creating castles in the air without basis of any foundation to happen. Thus what we are creating is a future that comes with hope without a foundation. The effect is constantly mirroring the cause and for that the effect that takes place will be the cause for the next effect. The entire mind processes works on conditionality and for that its process is run by cause and effect. Not to know the cause is not to know how the effect takes place. When one misses the cause that has its unique effect, one tries to imitate the effect in vain, unrealized that the effect cannot be imitated except to develop another so-called cause.

Look around us – everything from animate to inanimate objects has all its own conditionality. Thus, to want something is not to get it as to want as a cause is to have want as its effect – hence perpetuating its want when the future is to finally arrive. It is not by wanting do we get what we want, but by working on the causes of the now is where we will meet our future exactly as what the causes developed.

Simple as it may seems yet unknowingly the nature of ignorance is to keep looking, seeking and hoping for something better to arrive someday, somewhere, someplace – not knowing all those are merely a dream of fallacy that has not worked and will never work. Even if it works and you get what you finally aspire for, it is because the cause(s) you put in is in tandem with its effect. How can it be otherwise? It can only be otherwise when we don’t realize the working of this nature of the mind and thus try randomly to achieve a consistent result, which sad to say has never happened at all, except 100% all the time.
